My name is Maarten, I’m your friendly neighborhood designer of things.

First of, yes, that’s a Spider-Man reference. It’s my favorite superhero. Second, thanks for visiting and wanting to know a little more about me.

I’ve always been a creative person. It started with drawing when I was young, and then developed into playing with LEGO when I was a little older. In high school I started using Adobe Illustrator to create artworks and logo’s for upcoming dj’s. The work wasn’t that great, but the dj’s were happy, and I knew this is what I wanted to do for a living.

Fast forward a couple years and now I’m a freelance designer creating user interfaces and visuals for apps & websites. Illustrator is still my go-to program for icons, logo’s and illustrations, but for interfaces I’m now using Sketch.

Now we got that generic story out of the way, here’s a few facts and life lessons from me. Because that’s what a portfolio really needs these days.

You’ll most likely find me wearing something black or white (maybe grey or dark-blue when I’m feeling special).

I’m somewhat of a perfectionist, but I’m not afraid to put things out when they’re good enough.

My favorite emoticon is :) and my favorite emoji is 👌.

It’s important to stay true to yourself and figure out what you really want, but don’t forget to help out others along the way.

Don’t take yourself too seriously. Make sure you have fun in what you’re doing.

Keep up with more fun (and less fun) things about me as I write about myself in the subject.

Let’s create something great together

I’m always open to new opportunities

I’m always available for cool freelance projects. Recently I’ve decided I would also be open to an in-house opportunity, and joining a talented design team.

I’ve created a special page, which includes all the needed info about myself and my work: Hire me.

You can send your emails to [email protected], the quickest way to reach me is via Twitter. You can view more of my work on Dribbble. You can also just use the buttons below.
